
The first letter began tenderly. “My dearest Henry, the days feel longer without your smile. I wish my father could see what I see in you…” As Emily read, tears welled in her eyes. The letters told a forbidden love story between Clara, the mansion’s young heiress, and Henry, a worker at the nearby railway station. Her parents disapproved, demanding she marry another man someone of her class.
The tone of the letters grew darker as the months passed. Clara wrote of escape, of leaving everything behind to start a new life with Henry. Her final letter was dated November 8, 1924. It read only: “Midnight. In the ballroom. Forever.” And then, nothing. No more letters. Emily placed the papers down carefully. “They never made it,” she whispered. Liam nodded silently, his eyes scanning the dusty shelves. Something about the story felt unfinished, as if the mansion itself still held the ending. That’s when he noticed a faint glimmer inside the old piano upstairs on the camera screen. He zoomed in. “Em, look. There’s something inside it.”
